To The Man Who's Been Hurt

You say you gave your heart to a lovely stranger
I see how emotions can entangle you in disaster
Times are kinda rough when you're left without cover
Love bombs falling all around you in severe weather
Your world's turned upside down and you can't remember
Why you gave your heart in just one night to her
It just isn't fair how deeply you became her lover
She wasn't what you thought leaving you to wonder
How could you be so blind from March til November
That's just too long for a man who calls himself a soldier
You got blindsighted believing you were the leader
But in reality the situation only made you weaker
So you learned a lesson, so now take a breather
Relax your mind and try not to make it deeper
Than it has to be so that you can remember
Love isn't an overnight experience you can simply conjure
You need more time, it takes a bit longer
Wake up and learn so you can be that brother
Who knows and recognizes the frivilous encounter
Don't waste time on what won't end in splendor
No it's not guaranteed but you'll know when to believe her
Take your time hon, but please remain a dreamer
Cuz by nature you're still a caring man, a keeper
Next time, just don't give your heart to a lovely stranger.

What made you write this one? This could honestly be about me in 2000. I'm loving it.

I was actually listening to a song where the first line was "I gave my heart to a lovely stranger". I felt for him and wa-la! Glad you can relate.
